Description
Glass lightcatcher (25.5cm diameter) - Glass, copperfoil, steel hoop (for strength), Black brass chain.
I made this for an Uncle for his 60th birthday. The symbol is a celtic triple spiral, which is a symbol he feels some affinity for. He gave me my very first Jewellery Commission, which was a Signet ring with this symbol carved into it (don't have any photos, sorry).
Making this was a real challenge, a deliberate test of my skills (and whether my wire saw [link] could do all the things the brochure said it could
). I wasn't sure if I could pull it off, but I wanted to try. I had a back up design in case I ran out of time... It took me three solid days work, But I did it! Yay Me!
